So i am back from the land of the Longhorns! I have decided I absolutly love it or hate it. I'm not kidding when I say we were driving around downtown Austin then realized we were on campus. It was a little intimidating! I mean you are in the middle of downtown with crazy traffic (it was the first day of classes), some people were weird, and there were SOOOO MANY PEOPLE. When I began to worry a little bit though I saw a sign for a Christian Democrats Society and a kid wearing a Texas Ultimate sweatshirt. These things cheered me up.
The tour was the crappiest thing ever. We basically walked around for an hour and a half and she pointed out buildings. But at least I became familiar with the campus. It was kind of cool cus if you ever weren't quite sure where you were you just looked up and saw the tower and figured it out.
The campus itself wasnt very pretty but the tour guide told us on beautiful days you will see several ultimate games going on and this of course cheered me up. Plus the buildings were all pretty. They have the tower which at night was lit up burnt orange because of the national championship which you could see from any point of Austin. Also, when standing on the steps of the tower you can see the capital building two blocks away. The other buildings all had roofs in which had this spanish missionary feeling to it which I thought was really cool.
I saw the dorm rooms which had their ups and downs. They were CRAPPY beds, but you had your own sink, mirror, fridge, and mircowave. Also, the building I applied for is the largest co-ed dorm room in the world and the largest dorm in the US. Thats cool in that I wont know everyone, but at the same time made you feel a little small.
Overall the trip to Austin was great. I have a feeling I wont get in after talking to this woman at admissions, but I think that if I don't get in it's probably for the best. I am probably just saying that so I won't feel bad if I am not admitted.
Off of the Longhorns and on to the Seminoles. I will find out by February 15th. Ahh... I am a little worried about getting into both, but I think it'll work itself out.
Have a good night... |
